Mahoning county democratic officials are urging the party’s central and executive committees to re-elect David Betras as their chairman through a letter sent January 17 to members of the committees.
According to the letter, “Some of us have had very public disagreements with him over the years, but at the end of the day, we recognize that although he is sometimes brash, he is forthright, honest and acts wiht the utmost integrity. As office holders and citizens, we cannot ask for more.”
The party’s reorganizational meeting to elect the chairman and other leadership will take place after the May primary. Betras was elected as chairman April 27, 2009 to fill the previous chairperson’s unexpired term. June 2, 2010 he was elected to a full four-year term.
